For more than 40 years The Temptations have prospered, propelling popular music with a series of smash hits and sold-out performances throughout the world. An essential component of the original Motown sound, Otis Williams, David Ruffin, Melvin Franklin, Eddie Kendricks and Paul Williams started The Temptations in Detroit in 1961. It was in 1964 when the group became stars with the hit "The Way You Do the Things You Do." An avalanche of hits followed including "My Girl" (1965), "Get Ready" (1966) and "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" (1966).
In the 1960s and 1970s, The Temptations changed their dress and music to a more serious tone. Dennis Edwards replaced Ruffin and the group turned out hits like "Runaway Child" (1969), "I Can't Get Next to You" (1969) and "Papa Was a Rolling Stone" (1972).
In the 1980s, The Temptations achieved a hit with the album Power (1980), which reached number 13 on Billboard's Black Albums chart. Truly For You (1984), peaked at number three on Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and contained the hit single "Treat Her Like A Lady," a number two hit on Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart.
During the 1990s, The Temptations released a series of acclaimed records including Phoenix Rising (1998) and in 2000 released Ear Resistible, which became the group's next hit album, winning the group their fourth Grammy Award for Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance. Their most recent release, Back To Front (2007), hit number 19 on Billboard's R&B Top-Selling Albums chart.
They also released their DVD, The Temptations, in September 2006, which is a compilation of 16 classic full-length performances from television appearances during Motown's golden era. It has gone platinum plus and has been top 20 for 29 weeks on Billboard Music Video chart.
After many personnel changes Otis Williams, the only original member still living, continues to perform with The Temptations' new line up consisting of Terry Weeks, Ron Tyson, Joe Herndon and Bruce Williamson.
The Four Tops originated in Detroit in 1953 when Levi Stubbs, Abdul "Duke" Fakir, Renaldo "Obie" Benson and Lawrence Payton met at a friend's birthday party, where the quartet first sang together and then spent more than four decades without a single personnel change.
It took a decade for the Four Tops to finally notch their first hit in 1964 with "Baby I Need Your Loving." The group's 1965 single, "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)," went all the way to number one and the follow-up, "It's the Same Old Song," (1965) reached the top five. They created an R&B masterpiece in the form of the virtual soul symphony "Reach Out, I'll Be There" (1966), which became their second number one pop hit.
The Four Tops kicked off 1967 with the dramatic top 10 hit "Standing in the Shadows of Love," which was followed by the Top Five hit "Bernadette."
In 1973, the group released Keeper of the Castle, their first top 10 hit in several years. Their next single, "Ain't No Woman (Like the One I've Got)," became their final top five pop hit. Tonight! (1981), hit the Top 40 and the single "When She Was My Girl" went all the way to number one on the R&B charts.
The Four Tops started touring extensively with The Temptations in 1983. In 1988, the group scored their last top 40 album with Indestructible.
The Four Tops were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990. They recently received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards this past February. Joining original member Fakir are Theo Peoples, Ronnie McNeir and Payton's son Roquel Payton.
The Temptations and The Four Tops are part of the Belle Tire Concert Series.

Spacewalk was launched in San Francisco in 1997 to unite the communities of the Mission District. The aim of the project is to infuse art in as many forms as possible within a 24 hour period of time, and leave both an immediate and residual impact on unity of the community.
June 13-14, 2009 Detroit is the focus for Spacewalk
The 24 hour event will start at Belle Isle at noon. It will travel the Dequindre Cut, Eastern Market, make a trip to Artists Village, return downtown to Campus Martius 10pm-2am, and assemble a 3am tip-toe parade leading to the NSO. The Neighborhood Service Organization (NSO) cares for many homeless in the area with overnight stays, job opportunities, and community enrichment projects. Detroit has many organizations working with our needy... we are contacting each as we find time and information to bring awareness of Spacewalk and encouragement for participation.
What would an infusion of art look like?
Imagine visual arts such as live painting, sidewalk chalk art, bubbles, visual projections on buildings; performance arts such as acting, juggling, clowns, stilt walking, acoustic street jams, street slam poetry; and many more creative outlets.
There is simply too much information to post here because with each day new talent commits to perform, and contributions appear in food, clothing, art supplies, and more to sustain the event and care for those in need whom we are serving.

Mosaicthump is proud to bring the Atlanta Soul Session live to the Jazz Cafe in Detroit, Michigan. There is no doubt that “The ATL” has influenced soul music in a remarkable way, so much so, there is no doubt that this had to be the next Mosaicthump event. The Atlanta Soul Session will give Detroit concert-goers a live sample of that raw Atlanta power and creativity from two of its most powerful acts, featuring the one and only Algebra and new-comer Brittany Bosco.
Algebra has an uncanny ability to soulfully caress with her ballads and mesmerize her audience with an incredible stage presence that can easily overwhelm those not privy to her take on throwback soul. The career of Atlanta vocalist Algebra (formerly recording as Algebra Blessett) began to take shape with background credits on albums by India.Arie and Musiq Soulchild. Algebra also appeared alongside Anthony Hamilton on Miri Ben-Ari’s “She Was Just a Friend” before releasing her first album, 2008’s Purpose, on the revitalized Kedar label.
Seeing is believing when it comes to Brittany Bosco because she does not hide anything from her fans. Bosco’s creativity marks her as an individual in the way she moves her voice, rocks her clothes, and carries herself as the artist that she is. The best description of the Bosco sound is a hip-hop-era Sara Vaughn, with lush vocals floating over jazzy, electro beats with the stage persona of Outcast.
